Cloud Gate : Style Imitating Art

Okay, this post is out of my comfort zone, but it’s something I wanted to try, so here we go!

There is a group of three bloggers – Erin, Jen, and Salazar – who take turns co-hosting a linkup called Style Imitating Art. The premise is that whoever is hosting choosing a piece of artwork (in any medium) and other bloggers share their outfits that are inspired by the artwork. I’ve always enjoyed this linkup but have never felt brave enough to join in. Brave may seem like a silly word, but I’m not the biggest fan of my appearance right now, so the idea of putting a full body picture of myself on here is a little scary!

But you know what? I’m doing it anyway!

The inspiration piece was chosen by Erin and is called Cloud Gate. You may know it by another name:

That’s right! It’s The Bean in Chicago! I’ve never been to Chicago, but I know this is a must see when I finally make it there.

Now for my interpretation :

My mirror selfie game needs some work!

I’ve noticed that the co-hosts usually talk about their outfits and why they chose what they did. In the spirit of full transparency, my outfit was basically chosen because it fits me!

The sweater and tank top underneath are forest green even though they look gray in the picture. Let’s pretend like the dots on our bedspread are big fat snowflakes too. Ha!

I think this is going to be a fun series to be involved in, and I have some ideas about how to make my pictures better in the future. I’ll also take any suggestions anyone has for how to take better outfit pictures!

I hope you like this different type of post!

I am Amber. Amber I am. I like to write things that sound like a Dr. Seuss book, evidently.

One Commnet on “Cloud Gate : Style Imitating Art

  1. Great interpretation. I love your color palette which made me take a closer look at the bean, and the reflections in it.

I used to link up for SIA now and then. Need to revisit it. Thanks for the reminder.
