Zzzz

I don’t know what I had on my calendar to write about for today because we’re going through some kind of sleep regression from h-e-double hockey sticks (yeah I really did type that). She’s been getting up around 10:30 PM and nothing we try will get her back to sleep, so we have to ride it out with her, usually until around 3:30 or 4. The most fun part is that we usually haven’t gone to bed yet when she gets up.

I love her, but I’m not loving this.

Tips, advice, and coffee are all welcome. I’ll be back to whatever normal programming I have scheduled for tomorrow… hopefully!

Five Favorites

This month, I decided to talk about some of Charlotte’s favorite things. She plays with these things every single day!

1. “Snoop

I think my mom gave him that nickname, and it has stuck! Snoop is by far her current favorite toy and lovey. Sometimes we can hear her turn on his music at night! Lately when I go in her room after she first wakes up, she will grab Snoop and her favorite soft blanket and stand up so I can pick them up. This toy will be the reason we invest in rechargeable batteries!

2. AlphaPup

This was one of the first toys she learned how to turn off and on, and it fascinated her! I also heard her say the “buh” sound (for the letter B) for the first time while she was playing with this. She hasn’t quite connected the yellow bone and string as something she can pull to make it move, but she is starting to pet its ears and wag its tail, which is so cute!

3. Step and Play Piano

She got this for her birthday, and it has been a daily favorite ever since! At first, I sat her in the seat in the middle, and it was a lifesaver when I needed to contain her so I could get ready for work. As she got a little older, it was one of the first things that helped her pull to a standing position. Now she will move back and forth along the outside of it. Sometimes she stands in the middle of it (the seat is removable), and I call her mixmaster Charlotte. I don’t think she appreciates my sense of humor…

4.  A to Z Smart Pad

I had no idea what the real name of this one was! This was another birthday present that she loves! We keep it in her pack and play, and she likes to play with it while she’s enjoying a snack. It took her a little bit to figure out that the thing on the left side slides up and down, but now she does it all of the time!

5. Wiggles Keys

I don’t know why this picture is so tiny, but I was tired of fighting it to try to resize it! Char doesn’t actually have these, but they represent her love for The Wiggles. Hulu has the first two seasons of the new Wiggles, and we have streamed them approximately 17,462 times. But, I actually don’t mind them too much, and as a bonus, I’m learning all of the words. She loves them, and sometimes it’s the only thing that can stop a meltdown, so we will wiggle on! I included this particular product also because I wanted people to check out the price tag on it. For some reason, a lot of The Wiggles stuff on Amazon is expensive, but this is beyond expensive! Sorry Char. There’s no way we’re buying these for you!

Hope you enjoyed a look at Charlotte’s favorites! Like any good toddler, I’m sure she will change her mind about them soon, but for now, we’re enjoying her favorites!

Charlotte’s Twelve Month Update

IMG_20170415_231809_441-COLLAGE

And just like that, our baby is a year old! People tell you how fast it flies by, but you can’t really understand it until you’ve lived it!

Height:

at birth: 20 inches.
at one month: 21 inches
at three months: 23.5 inches
at four months: 24.5 inches
at six months: 26 inches
at nine months: 27 inches
at twelve months: 28.5 inches

Weight:
at birth: 6 lb 5 oz
at one month: 7 lb 11 oz
at three months: 10 lb 4 oz
at six months: 14 lb 10 oz
at nine months: 17 lb 3 oz
at twelve months: 18 lb 8 oz

Clothing Size: 9 months and up!

Milestones:
– She turned one. That seems like the biggest milestone of all!

Likes: Playing with her toys, snuggling with mama in the bed, seeing her friends at Circletime 😉

Dislikes: Being told no! I think we’re in trouble…

Sleep: Pretty decent for the most part. She takes a couple of naps a day that are hit or miss but usually sleeps through the night. I almost always wake up with a foot in my face though!

Best Moment: Seeing her eat her big cupcake on her birthday! It was so cute!!

Worst Moment: Getting her one-year vaccines and having an upset stomach at her doctor appointment yesterday. I know that’s past her twelve-month mark, but it was rough!

Eating: Anything we put in front of her! I always know when she doesn’t feel well because she doesn’t want to eat!

Mommy Update: I really am starting to enjoy motherhood. The first few months were really tough, and a lot of the time, I wondered if I was cut out for it. I know I’ll wonder that many, many more times during her lifetime, but I feel like we’ve gotten to know each other better, and I’m trying to trust my instincts more often.

Overall: This is my last monthly update. I thought about doing them for the next couple of years, but I think I’ll close the door on these and do something else fun on here as she grows up. I hope that she’ll read these someday and know how much her dad and I love her!

We love you, our strong, brave, smart, beautiful, baby girl!

Charlotte’s Eleven Month Update

So how about that nearly 3 week absence, huh? My husband has a new job with a different schedule than his last couple of jobs, so I’ve been working on new life routines, and this fell to the wayside. But, now I’m back…back again…Amber’s back…tell a friend (bonus points if you know what song that’s from…)

Now, let’s move on to the important stuff – Charlotte!

11 month collage
Google Photos automatically created this collage. I think it gives her a bit of a sullen, bored teenager look, don’t you think?

Height:

at birth: 20 inches.
at one month: 21 inches
at three months: 23.5 inches
at four months: 24.5 inches
at six months: 26 inches
at nine months: 27 inches

Weight:
at birth: 6 lb 5 oz
at one month: 7 lb 11 oz
at three months: 10 lb 4 oz
at six months: 14 lb 10 oz
at nine months: 17 lb 3 oz

Clothing Size: 9 months and up!

Milestones:
– We’re on tooth watch, 2017. It feels like she’s been teething for about 40 years, but none of them have popped through yet. It will be a glorious day when the first one does. Plus, if she realizes that teeth = getting to try more foods, then she’ll be a happy girl!

-She moved backwards some when she was on her stomach/hands and knees. It wasn’t quite crawling, but it was progress!

-I think she can say “my mama”. At least, that’s what it sounds like to me!

-She is pretty decent at picking up foods and feeding herself and is getting better at using her spoon. She also got some of her puffs out of the container one day when I held it up to her. Of course, that obviously means she’s a super genius! 😉

Likes: Going places (such a little charmer!), sitting in her pack and play and watching the weather while eating snacks (that’s my girl!), and pulling Koopa’s ears!

Dislikes: Not being allowed to chew on my phone, when we don’t give her back the things she throws on the floor (like spoons and napkins), scrambled eggs – my parents have fed them to her a couple of times and said that she didn’t enjoy them at all. I think this is the only food she hasn’t loved!

Sleep: Still co-sleeping and still (mostly) sticking to a routine. Most of the time, she sleeps through the night, but sometimes girlie needs a midnight snack…and not just a bottle!

Best Moment: There have been a few times when she has pulled me near her to give me a kiss or snuggle up next to me, and I have just completely melted!

Worst Moment: We’ve had a couple of middle-of-the-night wakeups that have gone from “hmm, she’s a little upset” to “whoa, she’s having a complete meltdown.” I think the incoming tooth is really bothering her, and then once she wakes up, she’ll realize that she’s hungry and super tired. I know that she can’t really communicate what’s wrong yet, so that makes things even tougher!

Eating: She is starting to like “real food” more than her baby food. She’ll still eat baby food most of the time, but she also wants something that she can pick up with her fingers and feed herself with. She’s also becoming good at stealing things off our plates!

Mommy Update: I’m feeling more confident as a mom, especially as I’m starting to focus more on just being in whatever moment we’re in and enjoying it. These 11 months have flown by, so I want to make sure I’m soaking everything in as much as possible!

Overall: She has such a great personality and is really starting to develop her own little quirks and habits. It’s been so fun seeing her grow and become more of her own little person!

We love you, baby girl!

Charlotte’s Ten Month Update

Charlotte’s Ten Month Update

10-month-collage

Height:

at birth: 20 inches.
at one month: 21 inches
at three months: 23.5 inches
at four months: 24.5 inches
at six months: 26 inches
at nine months: 27 inches

Weight:
at birth: 6 lb 5 oz
at one month: 7 lb 11 oz
at three months: 10 lb 4 oz
at six months: 14 lb 10 oz
at nine months: 17 lb 3 oz

Clothing Size: Pretty much exclusively 6 months and up. I accidentally put a 3-6 month onesie on her the other day, and her little arms looked like they were losing their circulation! Needless to say we took that one off pretty quickly and tossed it into the consignment bin!

Milestones:
– Doing so much better with sitting up by herself!

-She can go backwards in her walker like a champ!

-She seems to be talking more and saying more words, like “hiiiii” (she always drags it out like that!)

Likes: Blowing spit bubbles, grabbing things, being tossed into the air

Dislikes: Falling asleep by herself, staying in bed by herself, being put down by herself, sense a pattern here?

Sleep: We’re really getting good with our routine and making sure she’s in bed within a certain time frame. We’re still co-sleeping, and sometimes I’m okay with that (when she’s snuggly and sweet) and sometimes I’m very, very, very ready to do some sleep training (when she’s pulling my hair to wake me up).

Best Moment: Honestly, nothing stands out to me here. She’s such a happy girl, and I’m enjoying seeing her learn new things!

Worst Moment: Nothing stands out to me here either! Phew!

Eating: Everything she can get her hands on – both food and non-food! She loves peanut butter (like her doggie brother!), and there’s only been a handful of things that she hasn’t attacked with enthusiasm.

Mommy Update: I’m working on not being so hard on myself, and some days I am succeeding. I’m working more on routines, plus I’ve asked for help in some weak areas in my life, so I hope that helps me climb out of this pit of meh.

Overall: It’s crazy to think that we’re quickly approaching her first birthday! I look at updates from last year, and I was so nervous about becoming a mom, so curious about what she would be like, and so anxious about how our life was about to change. Now it feels like she’s always been a part of our family!

We love you, baby girl!
