Hi friends! Sorry for the long absence, but we’ve had a lot going on this month. I’ve missed writing, especially since I had a nice schedule put together for the month and felt like I was finally getting into a blogging routine. Oh well, onward and upward!
I’ve got a guest post about making those back-to-school mornings a little smoother over at Smart Mom Smart Ideas. I really appreciate Rachel’s patience with me since I was late turning it in!
We’ve moved into our new house! It took longer than expected because of some unexpected issues. I guess that’s life! We’ve got a basement and garage full of boxes and bags to unpack. Kind of makes me regret my hoarding ways. Kind of…
Charlotte has had a little bit of a rough time adjusting to her new place. Plus, she’s teething. Recipe. For. Disaster. On the positive side, she is crawling like a champion and doing some movements that seem to indicate that she’ll be standing and walking soon! She also has become super aware of her dog brother and loves petting him! It’s adorable!
Why do I feel like these two are going to gang up on me?
My husband was recently in a wreck on his way home from work. He was hit head on by a drunk driver who had a suspended license, was driving his boss’ car, and had an open pill container in the car! We’re so fortunate and grateful that Will walked away with only scrapes and bruises. Please, please, please don’t drive under the influence. Call a friend, a ride sharing service, or even your local sheriff’s department for a safe ride home.
This isn’t even the extent of the damage. He definitely had a guardian angel that night.
In the midst of all of the moving and wreck craziness, I turned 34! It’s so odd that I’m only a year from my mid-thirties. I’ve got a lot of goals for this year!
One of my goals should include staying away from Dunkin Donuts. Our new place is a two minute drive from DD, and one of the morning employees knows our coffee order. I’m both ashamed and proud of this.
WE’RE MOVING IN THREE DAYS!!! How do we have so much stuff?!?
Why do companies still make you call them? It’s 2017 and chat software is not expensive! Quit making me talk on the phone to change my utilities, ask a question about my bank account, or the six thousand other things that shouldn’t require going through a twelve layer voice menu that tells me to listen carefully as the following options have changed…
And while I’m being snippy, can I talk about how much I don’t enjoy listening to people in my neighborhood shoot fireworks? Of course, I’m an old lady, and I don’t want anyone to have fun, so I’m probably in the minority on this one.
I’ve got one more post scheduled for this week (Guys Behind the Blog! Woo hoo!), and then I’ll be “gone” for a few days while we get things going at our new place. I plan to do a before and after post at some point.
I have been working on posting more consistently and have a rough schedule for July already. One thing I’m debating is changing Fit Friday to a monthly post instead of a weekly one. Thoughts or comments anyone?
Sonic doesn’t have mint flavoring anymore. Sad day. One of my favorite drinks there was water with strawberry, lime, and mint. My mom told me about the combo, and it was delicious! I tried it with mango instead of mint, but it just wasn’t the same. Yet another reason to quit going there (you know, along with poor service, inconsistent food that sometimes tastes good and sometimes is still cold when it shouldn’t be, and those two ridiculously stupid guys in their commercials).Until I boycott them completely, I’m open to new drink suggestions, especially water flavors.
Check out the picture below. Cutest little girl in the entire world!!
Things have been slightly ridiculous lately because we sold our house!!! The housing market in our town is insane right now. We listed our house on a Friday afternoon, and by that night, we had a contract on it, and here’s the kicker, the girl that made the offer hadn’t even seen the house in person yet! Luckily, she had a showing on Saturday morning and decided to keep her offer! Phew!
We’re closing on both houses on the 29th. We can’t have access to the new place until we close, so we’ll basically be homeless nomads for a few days until we’re finished painting/updating/cleaning/all of the other fun stuff. I’ll definitely take before and after pictures!
Charlotte is 13 months old now and her personality is getting bigger and bigger! She’s such a little ham and loves attention (I have NO idea who she got that from…). She’s not crawling or walking yet, so we’re meeting with an early intervention specialist in a couple of weeks to work on a therapy plan for her. I don’t think she needs therapy because all kids do things in their own time, and she scoots and rolls and sits up just fine, but her doctor recommended the initial consultation, so we’ll give it a try.
Speaking of Charlotte, I’ve been carrying around thank you notes from her birthday for about a month now. Maybe I’ll actually send them this month!
If you’re a fan of Chick Fil A and don’t have their app on your phone, you need to download it right now. They give you “treats” pretty often. Today, I got a free smokehouse BBQ bacon sandwich. Those suckers aren’t cheap! I’ve got a free regular sandwich waiting too! Woo hoo!
Uh, so semi-related to that last note, I’ll pick up Fit Friday tomorrow, and I imagine it won’t be too great. I had a doctor appointment yesterday, and let’s just say that the weigh in portion was not my favorite. Not at all.
Google Trends released a map of America’s most misspelled words. Tennessee’s is chaos. Chaos? Really? Come on. That’s an easy one! I guess I can have some reassurance though since Mississippi’s word is nanny, and Georgia’s word is gray (maybe they don’t know whether or not they’re British and need to spell it with an -a or an -e). Rhode Island can’t spell liar. Are there any words you have trouble spelling? Did your state’s word surprise you?
I’m facing my quarterly dilemma of whether I should cut my hair shorter or let it grow. Internet, help me make life choices…
That’s what’s happening in Amber world right now. How are things for you?
Welcome to the much-anticipated, long-awaited second volume of life lately…aka random thoughts to tell the Internet what I’ve been up to when I don’t really have something to write about but just feel like writing. Phew!
HOW IS OUR CHILD ALMOST A YEAR OLD?!? That is all.
Our furry, spastic kid just turned four a few days ago! I don’t want to sound too cliche, but I can’t believe how fast time is going!
I stepped down from blogging for Nashville Mom Blog because I was falling way behind on submissions, but this recent article about baby-friendly hospitals really resonated with me!
I’ve also decided to drop the #Achieve2017 posts. They’re some of the lowest read posts I have, there’s never really any interaction on them, plus I haven’t been finishing the goals I set every month, which kind of defeats the purpose of blogging about them in order to finish the goals!
I will still be sticking with the linkups I’ve been doing…and probably more. Yay for those who like the linkup posts! I’ve also got 21(!) posts in my drafts folder, and I’ve got some ideas of other things to write about. I started a new writer planner, so let’s see if I can become more consistent with my posts!
My husband is starting college this summer! I’m so excited for him and proud of him! And, I get the opportunity to help him plan his class schedules, which is one of my favorite things to do. I think he needs a new planner, which means I also need a new planner because logic.
A friend and I are presenting at a library conference on Friday, and then Charlotte and I are supposed to have a play date with a former co-worker and her son on Saturday. It should be a fun week/weekend! Anything exciting happening in anyone else’s world right now?
Why hello there. I thought I would dust off the cobwebs of the ol’ blog and post some non-Charlotte related content (okay, mostly non-Charlotte related…and next week’s post is about her, so her fans can rejoice!).
I thought I would share some bits and pieces of what I’ve been up to lately and make it a “volume 1” posting that way I can use this idea again when I want to write but don’t want to use valuable brain power!
(I actually just switched out the vase filler yesterday and took the Easter stuff down. Go me!)
I made pizza wonton crisps and cheesy bacon roll ups for my husband and a few of our friends that came over. They were super easy and delicious! I made a couple of other things too, but these were my favorites!
My younger brother will be 25 this week. 25!! I remember when I was about to turn 25, and it doesn’t feel like that long ago. I’m getting old!!
I’ve been decorating my planner and obsessing over planner groups on Facebook. I’m even going to write a post in October about switching from an Erin Condren Life Planner to a Happy Planner (thanks for the idea, Trista!). My husband is really glad that I’ve finally found a hobby because that means I’m more forgiving of him spending time and money on his hobbies. 😉
Okay, that’s about as much excitement as I think all of us can handle right now. What have all of you been up to lately? Who’s ready for summer to be over? Insert cliche about fall and bloggers and pumpkin spice lattes here…
Oh yeah, here’s a picture of Char just because I know people love her more than me or my mundane life updates!
That would be a piece of melted chocolate chip on her face. My dad let her put her tongue on a cookie “to get the taste of it.” She eats like her mother…
