Spring Bucket List Update : May 2019

I’m a week behind on this one, but as with most things in my life, my motto here is “better late than never”! 😉

Let’s see my bucket list for a quick refresher of my goals :

Spring 2019 Bucket List (1)

Now that we’ve revisited my list, I can confidently say that I will not finish this list! Here’s where I am on everything…

1. Celebrate our family’s spring birthdays – Done! See you next year, spring birthdays!

2. Create a playroom for Charlotte – No change since last month. In fact, the room may look even worse than it has thanks to some decluttering in other parts of the house. Blah.

3. Finish a course – Big fat nope here. There’s still time to work on this one, though!

4. Go on an Easter egg hunt – Didn’t happen this year. Better luck (and better weather) next year!

5. Participate in Rachel Cruze’s contentment challenge – I didn’t participate along with the official Instagram challenge, but I finally started writing in the journal! I’m going to count this one as a win since I’m actually using it and not just letting it gather dust anymore!

6. Practice brush lettering – I haven’t started this, but I found a couple of fun June challenges to practice my fancy handwriting, so this would be a perfect time to bust out the brush markers and start trying to use them!

7. Spring cleaning – A little bit! I have been doing some decluttering and cleaning up around the house, so things are starting to look neater than they have! I still have a lot to do, but there is progress in this area!

8. Take Charlotte to the Children’s Museum – Nope! Now that the weather is nice, we probably won’t do this one since there are a lot of outdoor activities that we can do. I think I’ll move this one to my fall or winter bucket list.

9. Take Koopa to the dog bakery – This one is a no. We got him a treat from there, but he wasn’t with us. I don’t have any plans to take him there in the next few weeks, so maybe this one will be a spring item next year.

10. Walk a 5K – This one doesn’t look good for me! I’ve been walking a little bit after work, but I’m not ready to take on a 5K yet. I think I’ll move this one to my fall bucket list that way I can spend the summer building up my mileage and getting my body used to moving that much again.

Well, that’s disappointing! Even though I still have around a month left to complete this list, I don’t think that I am going to make much more progress beyond spring cleaning, brush lettering, Charlotte’s playroom, and maybe a course. Surprisingly, I’m not disappointed though! I know that I have done my best this spring, and there have been a lot of life things that have popped up (nothing bad! Just things that happen!). I’ll see how far I get and post my final update, plus my summer bucket list in June!

Spring Bucket List Update : April 2019

Time for a one-month Spring Bucket List update!

1. Celebrate our family’s spring birthdays – We’ve almost done this one! We’ve got one more celebration for Charlotte coming up this weekend, and then we can check this one off the list! 🙂

2. Create a playroom for Charlotte – Not even close! The room still looks exactly the same as it has for the last couple of months! My mom and I are planning a joint garage sale in May, so I think after that, I can make some progress on this goal!

3. Finish a course – I haven’t even looked at any of my courses over the last few weeks. Sigh.

4. Go on an Easter egg hunt – Oh man, this one has been a doozy. It has rained every weekend for the last month! My work egg hunt got postponed and then cancelled. Another egg hunt we planned to go to got moved indoors, so we thought that wouldn’t be fun. This one was a failure, but Charlotte got 3 different Easter baskets yesterday, so I don’t think she’s hurting for candy/treats!

5. Participate in Rachel Cruze’s contentment challenge – I got the journal but don’t plan to start it until May 1 so I won’t be starting on a random day. I think I missed her challenge, but I’m still going to count this one as “in progress” since I’m starting soon!

6. Practice brush lettering – Not yet. I haven’t even thought about this one!

7. Spring Cleaning –Not yet, but I know that as we start moving things to the garage for the garage sale and decluttering, this one will start happening by default.

8. Take Charlotte to the Children’s Museum – We haven’t had a chance to do this one yet. April has been a really busy month, so we will plan a day in May or early June for this one.

9. Take Koopa to the Dog Bakery –We picked up a birthday treat for him from the bakery, but he wasn’t with us because we had been running other errands. I’m going to call this one a partially finished item until we take him somewhere else.

10. Walk a 5K – Not yet! My mom and I went on a short walk last week, and I realized that I have a lot of work to do before I’m ready to walk 3 consecutive miles. It’s hard for me not to feel discouraged since I used to be a lot more in-shape, but that doesn’t help anything!

So, that leaves me with one failure, two in-progress items, and seven not even started tasks. Eep! Here’s hoping that the other participants have fared better than I have so far!

Spring 2019 Bucket List

It’s finally Spring! We spent the weekend playing outside and enjoying the sunshine, which made for one happy little girl! I’m a couple of days late in joining the linkup, but I wanted to share my Spring 2019 bucket list. There are 2 items from my Winter mini bucket list, which means I did accomplish going on a date with Will!

Spring 2019 Bucket List (1)

1. Celebrate our family’s spring birthdays – I’m the only one in our house who doesn’t have a springtime birthday! Koopa and Will actually have the same birthday (as determined by Koopa’s vet, without us giving her any clue about when Will’s birthday was), and Charlotte’s is about 3 weeks after theirs. We usually keep Charlotte’s birthday pretty low-key, but we may go even more simple this year and just take her to do something fun and then go to eat. I don’t know how we’re going to celebrate all of the birthdays, but we’ll think of something fun to do! By the time I post my first check-in, we’ll be past all of the birthdays!

2. Create a playroom for Charlotte – This is the first of two items from my Winter mini bucket list. I explained the rationale and plan in that post, so I won’t bore you with too many details here. My mom found a toy organizer with bins on Facebook Marketplace for $10, and we bought a bean bag that holds Charlotte’s stuffed animals, so we’ve gotten a little bit of furniture for the room. Now, we just have to get all of the other furniture out of it! It’s packed in there right now!

3. Finish a course – I have a slight tendency to be hooked by courses that bloggers and other online content creators sell. Put a phrase like “get it done in 30 days or less” in the course name, and I’ll sign up in the time it takes for you to finish reading this sentence! Unfortunately, my follow through for actually finishing these courses is not as good as my purchasing skills, so I’m going to make it a goal to finish at least one course every season for however long it takes me to get through all of them. No, I don’t know how many I’ve purchased. Yes, I know it’s a problem. I wonder if there’s a course for finishing other courses…

4. Go on an Easter egg hunt – Last year we tried to do this, but we were a little late to it, plus it was a pretty huge event, so Charlotte didn’t enjoy it at all. My work hosts an egg hunt every year, so that’s the one we’re going to attempt to go to, weather permitting!

5. Participate in Rachel Cruze’s contentment challenge – Okay, I don’t know if this is a challenge necessarily, but Rachel Cruze (Dave Ramsey’s daughter) has a 90 day contentment journal coming out in April, and she’s going to be journaling with the hashtag #contentmentjournal on Instagram and Facebook, so it feels challenge-ish. Since my word of the year is “complete” and one of the meanings I’m using is “I am enough,” this seems like a good book to fit in with that theme. Plus, it’s available on Amazon (affiliate link) for a few dollars less than on her website, and I have some gift card money on there, so it’s a win-win!

6. Practice brush lettering – This is the other item that was on my mini Winter bucket list. I missed the planner group gathering where they had a lettering tutorial because we had some flooding that weekend, so I need to find a couple of good YouTube tutorials and dive in!

7. Spring Cleaning – I stole this one from Leslie’s list! However, we definitely need to do some spring cleaning in these parts! We’ve been able to open the windows a couple of times this spring, and there’s nothing like natural light shining in and illuminating the dust bunnies that makes you want to clean! Plus, we’ve been on the hunt for a couple of papers to verify some insurance stuff, and digging through boxes and paper piles makes me want to organize every single piece of paper in our lives.

8. Take Charlotte to the Children’s Museum – There’s a children’s museum in a town that’s about 45 minutes away from us. I had forgotten about it until I saw a college friend of mine post about it on Instagram. I’m not sure how much of it she’ll enjoy, but the ticket prices looked pretty reasonable, and it would be something fun and different for our family to do!

9. Take Koopa to the Dog Bakery – I know that he will act ridiculous, but we really only take him on car rides when he’s going to a grooming appointment or to the vet, so it would be nice for him to be able to get out of the house and go somewhere that’s specifically for him. Plus, that will take care of his birthday gift!

10. Walk a 5K – I used to be pretty active and participated in quite a few 5K races. I know that I’m nowhere near as in-shape as I used to be, and I’ll probably finish pretty close to last place (if not completely last), but I have to restart somewhere! There’s a glow run coming up in our area in April, so that one may be a fun one to participate in.

I know there are some other fun things that we want to do this Spring also, but this is a good list of goals to work on, and anything else fun we do will just be a bonus! Do you have any items on your Spring Bucket List? Leave a comment and let me know what fun things you have planned now that there is some sunshine and warmth outside!

Winter Mini Bucket List

Winter has hit the Nashville area! We got so much snow Saturday night/yesterday that I almost couldn’t even see the grass still. Haha!

I missed the initial Winter Bucket List post, so I’m turning this into a mini bucket list since I only have until February 21 to complete these tasks!

Winter 2019 Mini Bucket List

My three items for the mini bucket list are :

  1. Create a playroom for Charlotte
  2. Go on a date with Will
  3. Practice brush lettering

Let’s break each of these down a little more.

First, we’re working on giving Charlotte a space for her toys. Our front bedroom was kind of catchall room that we had a spare bed and a couple of other pieces of furniture in. Will and I were alternating sleeping in the spare bed with Charlotte until around Thanksgiving when she decided that she wanted to sleep in the “big girl bed” in her room (her crib that had been converted into a toddler bed). She would go to sleep in it, but I had to sleep on the floor quite a bit, and she started waking up a lot at night (see my last post that refers to crappy sleep…).  We decided a couple of days ago to move the full size bed into her room and turn the front bedroom into her playroom. We (okay, Will) moved the bed on Saturday, and although she’s still waking up some at night, her sleep has been so much better! That’s the good part of this project. The bad part is that we need to get rid of some furniture, rearrange some things, and do a little bit more work. It will be great when she has a whole room of toys and area to play, so that’s why this is one of my bucket list goals.

Wow. I didn’t realize that one would be a short novel! Moving on…

The second item is to go on a date with Will. This bucked list covers Valentine’s Day, which happens to be the anniversary of our first date, 8 years ago! I know a lot of people don’t think about or even know the anniversary of their first date, but it’s kind of burned into my brain since it was a bit of a high pressure night to have a date! Because we’re working on straightening out our finances, plus I’m working on becoming healthier (read more about that when I publish my belated Wellness Wednesday post this week!), we haven’t been going on very many dates lately. I would like to go on some type of fun date; it doesn’t necessarily have to be a nighttime date either! I don’t know what the date will be yet, but I’ve got a couple of ideas!

The final item is to practice brush lettering. If you’re not familiar with what brush lettering is, the short explanation is that it’s basically calligraphy done with brush pens/markers. I got a set of brush pens for Christmas 2017, but I haven’t been brave enough to try them out yet. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it feels like I have to be good at brush lettering before I even use them. I know, I know! My goal for this bucket list is to get over this fear and break them out of the package. I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but I can always eventually get more brush pens! Mind-blowing, right?

There are my three, overly explained bucket list items. Come back in February to see how I did, and be sure to check out the other posts in the linkup to see what their items are and how they’re doing on achieving them. If you have bucket list items of your own, join in on the linkup!

Christmas Mini Bucket List

Recently my blogger friend Leslie reached out to a few of us to see if we were interested in creating mini bucket lists for Christmas and having a linkup. Since I didn’t update my Fall bucket list in November and have forgotten what was on it, I decided this would be a good chance to start fresh with bucket lists! I’m a few days behind on posting this, but better late than never, right?

Christmas Mini Bucket List.png

(I also stole a couple of these from Leslie. No shame in my thievery game…).

Let’s look at the items, shall we?

1. Buy a new ornament – every year since Will and I were first dating, we have bought a new ornament for our Christmas tree. One year we bought it on Halloween! We’re behind on getting our annual ornament this year, so we need to get to it!

2. Christmas lights scavenger hunt – This is one of the ones I stole, but it’s such a great idea! I’ve seen a few of these around my neighborhood!

3. Have a Christmas party – Totally cheating on this one since we’re having our Happy Holigames : Part Deux this weekend! I’ll mark this one off the list at least!

4. Learn to make a different Christmas treat – I make reindeer belly buttons every year, and they’re delicious, but I need to add another treat to my annual recipes!

5. Watch Elf – I haven’t seen this in so long! I know it’s one of my mom’s favorite movies (ha!), so I’m going to invite her to watch it with me… 😉
