Happy (chilly) April Fool’s Day, everyone! I hope that no one had too many pranks played on them today!
I haven’t joined in on this linkup since May 2018, which makes me think I’ve been pretty boring for almost a year now! No more! I’m going to start joining in, even if it’s something small like it is this month. Time to start mixing things up again!
My one entry for March is that I bought (and wore) a jumpsuit!
For those of you unfamiliar with what a jumpsuit is, it’s basically an adult onesie! Ha!
I got it from Old Navy, and even though it’s cropped on the model, it basically touches the floor for me. Short girl problems. I was reluctant to get it because I haven’t taken any fashion risks in a long time. I think part of it is because I’m not super comfortable with my weight right now, and the other part is just because I’ve been in a bit of a rut lately. However, I love all things polka dot, so after seeing it and getting Will’s stamp of approval that I didn’t look like a toddler, I bought it!
I don’t have a standing up picture of it, but here’s one where I was holding Charlotte at a children’s theater event we went to a couple of weekends ago.
(The one leg is shorter because of my dear daughter’s tennis shoes that pulled it up!)
Overall, I’m glad I took a little bit of a fashion risk. The only time I regretted it was when I had to use the restroom at Target…
I’m glad to be joining Leslie’s linkup again, and I look forward to stepping outside of my comfort zone…beyond the Target restrooms! 😉

Back in March, my blogging friend Leslie started a series called “Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone” to start documenting the things she does that make her uncomfortable or that scare her. I’m a little behind the curve here, but I’m diving in this month.
The concepts of bravery and fear have been coming up a lot in my life lately. If you follow me on Instagram, then you saw that I started a devotional based on Annie F. Downs’ book 100 Days to Brave. I’ve also started listening to Ruth Soukup’s podcast, Do It Scared. Between both of those things, I’ve really started to look at what I’ve always wanted to do but have been too scared to do. By joining this monthly linkup, I hope that I will be encouraged to do those things, both large and small.
One theme that will probably come up over and over in the course of this series is me working on becoming a full-time writer. That is my ultimate career goal and dream job, but honestly, I’m terrified of leaving a stable, steady career to do something that is completely in my own hands. I started small this month by applying for a couple of writing jobs – one was a pretty huge one that I don’t think I got, and one was a little smaller that is showing some promise. It may not seem earth-shattering to anyone, but it’s a step in the right direction for me!
I don’t know what else I’ll end up doing to step out of my comfort zone. Maybe I need to make a list of ideas in my planner! 😉
I would love to hear what you have done to break out of your comfort zone. Leave me a comment and inspire me to be brave!
