Snacking (on) : Coffee and doughnuts and ice cream. Ughhhh. That doesn’t really help my whole “I really want to lose weight” situation. Unfortunately, our new house is about a two minute drive from a combo Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins. I know I’ve mentioned before how one of the employees knows our coffee order. I’ve got to change this habit!
Anticipating : Cooler weather! If I could walk to the mailbox without sweating my face off, that would be fantastic!
Borrowing : DVDs and books from the library I work at. I may or may not have had these checked out since sometime in June. Apologies to anyone who visits my library and wants to read any of my reading challenge books.
Admiring : Anyone who seems like they have their act together right now! I have felt so scatterbrained all summer, and August has arrived a lot more quickly than I anticipated. Suddenly all of these summer projects that I thought I had a lot of time to complete are due RIGHT FLIPPING NOW. I think I’ve just figured out why I’m consuming so much coffee and sugar…
Purchasing : Nothing lately since my debit card has been making it rain with a lot of online shopping lately (“You got another package today. What did you order this time?” – said my husband earlier this week). Also, I might have just gotten a new-to-me car when Will got his new-to-him car to replace his poor wrecked Fiesta. I believe that someone needs to take my debit card…and my Internet…away from me…

Today was the first day of school in my county. My Facebook and Instagram feeds were filled with posts and pictures that all shared a common theme : “I can’t believe how fast time is going.”
Since Charlotte had been pretty restless all night and decided to give us a 4:30 AM wake up call, it seems so hard for me to think about time going quickly, but I know it does. She is learning new skills daily and approaching milestones that seemed like far away concepts just a few days ago.
This is what a rough morning looks like…
Part of me wishes that she would stay little; she’s so sweet and affectionate (when she wants to be!), and it’s fun watching her interact with the world around her. However, the bigger part of me is looking forward to seeing her grow and develop as a person. I’m curious to see what her personality will be like. I want to be able to talk to her and have her respond back to me with more than just a couple of words or random babble. And, let’s be real here, I really, really, really look forward to the days when her sleep is more consistent (when she’s about, what, 20 or 25? Ha!).
But, I’m not going to wish this time away. I’m going to attempt to savor every moment – good and bad. We are not having more children so every phase we go through is the first and last time we will experience those things as parents. I’m going to work on enjoying the journey because before I know it, we’ll be sending out high school graduation invitations, and I’ll be trying to remember what life was like when she was little. Enjoy your journey. Even the not-so-enjoyable parts have a purpose, and one day, they will be what you miss.
Hi friends! Sorry for the long absence, but we’ve had a lot going on this month. I’ve missed writing, especially since I had a nice schedule put together for the month and felt like I was finally getting into a blogging routine. Oh well, onward and upward!
I’ve got a guest post about making those back-to-school mornings a little smoother over at Smart Mom Smart Ideas. I really appreciate Rachel’s patience with me since I was late turning it in!
We’ve moved into our new house! It took longer than expected because of some unexpected issues. I guess that’s life! We’ve got a basement and garage full of boxes and bags to unpack. Kind of makes me regret my hoarding ways. Kind of…
Charlotte has had a little bit of a rough time adjusting to her new place. Plus, she’s teething. Recipe. For. Disaster. On the positive side, she is crawling like a champion and doing some movements that seem to indicate that she’ll be standing and walking soon! She also has become super aware of her dog brother and loves petting him! It’s adorable!
Why do I feel like these two are going to gang up on me?
My husband was recently in a wreck on his way home from work. He was hit head on by a drunk driver who had a suspended license, was driving his boss’ car, and had an open pill container in the car! We’re so fortunate and grateful that Will walked away with only scrapes and bruises. Please, please, please don’t drive under the influence. Call a friend, a ride sharing service, or even your local sheriff’s department for a safe ride home.
This isn’t even the extent of the damage. He definitely had a guardian angel that night.
In the midst of all of the moving and wreck craziness, I turned 34! It’s so odd that I’m only a year from my mid-thirties. I’ve got a lot of goals for this year!
One of my goals should include staying away from Dunkin Donuts. Our new place is a two minute drive from DD, and one of the morning employees knows our coffee order. I’m both ashamed and proud of this.
WE’RE MOVING IN THREE DAYS!!! How do we have so much stuff?!?
Why do companies still make you call them? It’s 2017 and chat software is not expensive! Quit making me talk on the phone to change my utilities, ask a question about my bank account, or the six thousand other things that shouldn’t require going through a twelve layer voice menu that tells me to listen carefully as the following options have changed…
And while I’m being snippy, can I talk about how much I don’t enjoy listening to people in my neighborhood shoot fireworks? Of course, I’m an old lady, and I don’t want anyone to have fun, so I’m probably in the minority on this one.
I’ve got one more post scheduled for this week (Guys Behind the Blog! Woo hoo!), and then I’ll be “gone” for a few days while we get things going at our new place. I plan to do a before and after post at some point.
I have been working on posting more consistently and have a rough schedule for July already. One thing I’m debating is changing Fit Friday to a monthly post instead of a weekly one. Thoughts or comments anyone?
Sonic doesn’t have mint flavoring anymore. Sad day. One of my favorite drinks there was water with strawberry, lime, and mint. My mom told me about the combo, and it was delicious! I tried it with mango instead of mint, but it just wasn’t the same. Yet another reason to quit going there (you know, along with poor service, inconsistent food that sometimes tastes good and sometimes is still cold when it shouldn’t be, and those two ridiculously stupid guys in their commercials).Until I boycott them completely, I’m open to new drink suggestions, especially water flavors.
Check out the picture below. Cutest little girl in the entire world!!
